Ministry of Health, Cambodia - National Maternal and Child Health Center

The National Maternal and Child Health Center

National Maternal and Child Health Center (NMCHC) is a government institution under the Ministry of Health in Cambodia responsible for improving maternal and child health and reducing maternal and child mortality to achieve Millennium Development Goal 4 & 5.

NMCHC provides both preventive and cure through NMCH clinics and National Program including the National Nutrition Program (NNP), the National Reproductive Health Program (NRHP), the National Immunization Programme (NIP) and a training unit. The National Nutrition Program plays an important role in improving maternal and child nutrition status and contributes to the reduction of maternal and child mortality and morbidity.

To this date NNP has had an important role in conducting research in Cambodia with the collaboration of development partners including WHO, UNICEF, USAID, HKI and other NGOs such as Save the Children, and the National Institute of Public Health Laboratory. During this time HKI has been one of NNP’s key partners in conducting research.

Main tasks in the project

The NMCHC will be co-leader of WP7 (integration in policy) and WP8 (dissimination) and will contribute to WP2 (data and intervention mapping), WP4 (linear programming) and WP6 (multi-criteria mapping).
