Ministry of Health of Vietnam - National Institute of Nutrition
The Institute of Nutrition
The National Institute of Nutrition is a research Institute on Nutrition at national level which was established since 1980 on the Decision of the Prime Minister of the country. NIN belongs to the Vietnam Ministry of Health and has a system of Centers which implement nutrition activities such as Provincial Preventive Health Center, District Preventive Health Center, Communal Health Unit and Nutrition Collaborators. NIN consists of Departments responsible for Community Nutrition, Micronutrients, and school nutrition researches.
Furthermore, yearly nutrition surveillance is also one of the tasks of NIN. Besides that, the nutrition counselling centres for children and adults have been launched recently. In order to evaluate micronutrient deficiencies, a biochemical laboratory is available at NIN.
This lab routinely determines indicators of deficiencies of iron, zinc, vitamin A, calcium, vitamin D, folate, vitamin B12 and also has the capacity to do blood biochemical indicators to diagnose nutrition related non-communicable diseases.

The NIN will be co-leader of WP3 (FCT). In addition, the NIN will give input in WP2 (data and intervention mapping), WP4 (linear programming), and WP7 (integration in national policies).
